High Mountain Tour
12th to 21st September 2005

Difficulty Level 3
Price for 10 days £640

This is another new tour for 2005. We will explore some of the most beautiful and wildest parts of the high Couserans at one of the best times of the year. September is a cooler month when the birds are beginning to migrate southwards, the leaves are changing colour and the temperatures are more pleasant.
One of the many highlights of this tour is a beautiful & contrasting walk over in to Spain to the Val d'Aran and returning to France via the famous peak of Maubermé. We also climb the famous Mont Valier(2838m)peak, spending one night in the refuge. The rest of the tour will be spent climbing some of the lesser known peaks and discovering secret lakes, mines, and deserted villages. We will meet many shepherds in the mountains and learn more about the fascinating flora and fauna. This tour is reserved for fit and experienced walkers. An average day will consist of 7 hours walking with a 1000 meters of ascent, and on 2 days we will walk for up to 9 hours. This tour will be lead by Jonathan and Philippe. You will spend 7 nights of the 9 nights at "Le Clos Enchanté". For the two nights you spend away from Castillon you don't need to carry a big rucksack, as Myriam will transfer them to the refuge/hotel.
