This is one of the busiest parts of the year in the Pyrenees
which is why there are so many interesting activities
and local festivals. As well as the week long Autrefois
Le Couserans festival there are many other events such
as concerts (jazz, classical, Spanish, rock), night markets,
art exhibitions and other interesting cultural events.
The walks on this tour will be short and gentle. We will
either walk in the mornings or late afternoons to avoid
the heat for a maximum of 3 hours. This gives us time
to visit the fairs and participate in a week of interesting
events put on at St Girons and around the Couserans. Autrefois
le Couserans is organised in cooperation with the local
farmers from all corners of Ariege. There are many demonstrations
of old farming techniques, local craftsmen, groups of
dancers, fairs, and much more.
