Accommodation

We have renovated, with care, an early nineteenth century town house in the heart of the small village of Castillon. Our aim has been to preserve as many of the original features as possible while bringing its facilities up-to-date.

Le Clos Enchante is furnished with antiques, some have been in situ since 1807; others have been handed down by our Scottish and French great-grandparents. The decoration of the house has involved the application of hand-drawn stencils and the use of historic colours.

There are five double bedrooms, each with en suite facilities. Guests have access to the dining room, the sitting room and the library. There is also a conference room which is available to groups who have booked it.

There is a large garden, in which we often serve lunch and dinner during the summer, and an extensive park with many trees and a stream populated with trout.

Food

We take food seriously. Most of the cooking is done by Myriam who uses, whenever possible, local, organic produce including vegetables from our garden and eggs from our hens. Myriam's cooking is influenced by her French and Spanish heritage and by what she learned during the nine years she lived in Greece.

Some of our wine is from the family vineyeard in Bordeaux; the rest has been selected from several of the wine-growing regions of France.

breakfast, which is served in the dining room, usually comprises home-made jams and cakes; eggs; yoghurt; cereales and fresh fruit or fruit juices. Occassionally, especially in the autumn and winter, a cooked course is served.

Activities

We chose to live in the Couserans because it is one of the most beautiful, unspoiled and varied landscapes in Europe. You could spend years here (we have) and never tire of the views, the people, their villages and their customs and history.

Close by there is a wealth of options to entertain visitors: two horse-riding centres close, a light aircraft flying school, kilometres of mountain cycling paths, rivers for fishing, museums, caves, zoos, daily markets, thermal baths. There is no shortage of entertainment in the evening in bars and restaurant, at concerts and in theatres
.
