Vikos Gorge-Northern Greece -------------------Pyrenees High mountain tour
What we do
Ours is a small, family business which organises guided walking tours Greece and France; in the Pyrenees, we run a chambres d'hôtes and offer a self-catering flat.
Walking tours
We aim to make your walking holiday an unforgettably rewarding experience. We will take you to special, unspoiled places that we have known and loved for many years. In France we walk in the Pyrenees, sometimes walking into Spain. We walk far and wide in Greece: on the mainland and on selected islands, particularly Crete.
We speak English, French and Greek fluently and we have lived for years in France and Greece. So we have an intimate knowledge both of the places to which we will take you and the people who live there. We can introduce our guests to an authentic experience of the local people, their customs and communities. On some of the walks, for example, you might have lunch in the home of a local shepherd; on others you might join the community in a dinner as they celebrate their patron saint.
Chambres d'hôtes
Le Clos Enchanté, our home, is a two hundred years-old mansion with its own parkland. We have renovated it with care so that it provides its guests with modern facilities in a traditional setting. For some of the year its rooms are occupied by guests on walking tours and on other courses, such as painting; at other times it offers a bed and breakfast service.
Jonathan and Myriam Peat
Jonathan plans and leads all the walks. He is a qualified European mountain leader who has been guiding groups in Crete, mainland Greece, the Greek islands and the French Pyrenees for nearly 20 years. He has worked with Simply travel and, more recently, Simpson’s Travel.
Jonathan’s parents were Scottish and Greek; he was at school in England and was raised in the UK and Greece.
Jonathan’s passions include walking, the local and natural history of the areas in which he walks, the communities who live in them and conservation. He is a keen organic gardener.
Myriam, Jonathan’s wife, is of French and Spanish stock. She runs Le Clos Enchanté, the chambres d’hôtes where you will stay if you join one of the Pyrenean tours and she looks after the administration of the walking tours. She is renowned for her hospitality, particularly her cooking – and for bringing up a family of three young boys.
Here are a few of the things his clients have said about walking with Jonathan:
You took us to an idyllic part of Greece that most Greeks have never seen! Because you speak Greek it opened doors for us that would have remained closed otherwise. We’ll be back next year, to Crete I think, to see if you can manage the same trick again.
Donal and Mary Smith, Gloucester
A quick note to thank you for a holiday I’ll never forget. You held everything together brilliantly - the walks, the people and, nearly most important of all, the food.
Joan Brown, Manchester
We would like to join the Jonathan Groupies if there’s a vacancy!! You’re a brilliant guide (it’s easier to write this than say it to your face!) and I hope your business continues to thrive. Please make sure you keep us on your mailing list.

John and I loved the walking but what made the holiday for me was staying in your lovely home and eating wonderful French food.
